Dido Valley Housing Project
Lukhozi Consulting Engineers (Pty) Ltd. were appointed by the City of Cape Town Human Settlement Implementation Department to undertake the planning, design, and construction monitoring services of the Dido Valley Housing Development. The development is set to provide beneficiaries with an estimated 600 subsidized housing opportunities, as well as all necessary infrastructure services.

Dido Valley is an area located in Simon’s Town, on the Southern Peninsula of the Western Cape. In 1967, the Luyolo and Redhill communities were forcefully removed and relocated to areas including Ocean View and Gugulethu. The project is therefore of historic significance, as these residents are now, 50 years later, compensated for the housing opportunities that were once lost.

Lukhozi has provided the technical designs for the water reticulation, sewerage, stormwater, and roadway infrastructure as well as the design of the top structures. The team has also provided the construction monitoring services throughout the project. The Dido Valley Housing Development is currently at construction phase, with completion estimated for 2023.
