Forest Village – 2718 Units Handed Over
Over the past year, the Forest Village Housing Project has continued to progress despite the challenges presented by the national pandemic. Over 3180 units have been constructed, with 2718 units allocated to various beneficiaries to date. This includes residents from local areas, N2 Gateway, and the Southern Corridor.

Lukhozi Consulting Engineers (Pty) Ltd. has been involved in this social housing project since its design inception in 2013. Over the past 8 years, we have provided the design for the 4820 residential units, including approximately 30km of internal roads, water, sanitation, and stormwater reticulation services. This was accompanied by the design of the bulk earthworks, electrical supply, electrical reticulation, and landscaping services. Our role did not stop there. Once the designs were complete, Lukhozi assumed the role of project manager and has provided monitoring services to 14 different contractors over the duration of the construction.

In addition, Lukhozi has provided social facilitation services to the Western Cape Government, managing and monitoring the handover process from the contractor to the beneficiary. One particularly heart-warming event occurred on 27 May 2020 when our resident engineer was able to hand over a unit to a lady who had been on the social housing waiting list for over 20 years.
