CHDM Water Supply Backlog Cluster 3

The Cluster 3 Water Supply Backlog Project involved the provision of sustainable water supply to RDP standards for 43 individual settlements within the Gwatyu area of the Lukhanji Local Municipality, Eastern Cape.

The villages, comprising nearly 3000 people, were scattered over a wide area covering approximately 400km² making it a challenging project in terms of logistics. 30 new windmills were erected on new and existing borehole sites and a total of 65 000m of piping was installed during this project, providing employment opportunities for 170 people from the local community.
