Mvubukazi River Culvert

The culvert was constructed under a new dual carriageway road across the Mvubukazi River, as part of the external services for the East London Industrial Development Zone. 

The work comprised :

  • A reinforced concrete cast in-situ culvert with inlet and outlet wing walls, comprising two 3,5 m square sections, with an overall length of 86m.
  • Major stream diversion and realignment works, with gabion protection to stream bed and embankments.
  • Rehabilitation and re-vegetation of surrounding areas.

The construction was completed in 2005 with an overall construction value of R 4,7 million.
