Tarring of Gravel Roads – PE

Lukhozi Consulting Engineers has been appointed by the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality to upgrade ±60km of gravel roads to a standard tarred surface with associated stormwater infrastructure.

Cluster A is the area of focus which consists of Ward 52 (Despatch), Ward 53 (Ikhamvilihle and Colchester) and Ward 60 (Wells Estate). To date, approximately 20km of the gravel roads have been upgraded with a construction value of ±R140 million.  As part of the programme, local SMME subcontractors are involved in the construction contracts. The greatest challenge faced in this programme is dealing with the local communities. Lukhozi has, however, built great trust with the local communities during the execution of this programme.
